Dr Harry Verhoeven talks about African moves to favour Chinese currency

Date

Harry Verhoeven was interviewed on Radio France Internationale (23 September) about the growing influence of the Chinese Yuan in international currency markets and the increasingly concrete plans of African countries to move away from the US dollar as the main reserve currency.

Specifically, Harry was asked about the agreement recently concluded by the Kenyan and Chinese governments to set up a clearing house in Nairobi for the Chinese Yuan - a bold first for an African state that would further deepen the continent's ties with Beijing.
