Dr David Hine assesses Italian political dynamics on eve of election

Writing in the Financial Times (20 February), David Hine examines Mario Montis decision to run in the current Italian election and its potential effects on the races outcome.


While noting that he may only garner a small share of the vote, David argues that “Mr Monti’s influence will still be felt in the post-election political arithmetic, even if his support is only at 15 per cent… Mr Monti’s name on the ballot may have saved Italy from another Berlusconi win.”
