Dr Colin Farrelly Awarded Funding from Wellcome Trust

Dr Colin Farrelly was awarded funding from the Wellcome Trust for the conference entitled ‘Genetics and Justice’. The conference will be held on 2-3 July 2007.

The conference will address a range of ethical and policy issues related to advances in human genetic technologies that will impact human health and wellbeing in a variety of distinct ways. These range from novel attempts to directly mitigate genetic disadvantage (e.g. gene therapy) to screening technologies (e.g. PGD) that raise concerns about the limits and scope of reproductive freedom. The conference seeks to foster interdisciplinary dialogue and exchange by inviting participants from diverse disciplines, including politics, philosophy, medicine and sociology.
