Dr Claudia Schrag Sternberg receives THESEUS Award for Promising Research 2012

Congratulations to Dr Claudia Schrag Sternberg on receiving the THESEUS Award for Promising Research on European Integration 2012 for her book The Struggle for EU Legitimacy: Public Contestation 1950s-2005, forthcoming at Palgrave. The award distinguishes excellent pieces of research by a junior researcher in the field of European integration, which analyses an on-going challenge for the European Union and its member states. Dr Schrag Sternberg receives the award jointly with Dr Theresa Kuhn. THESEUS is a European network of thinkers, actors and ideas whose aim is to foster an open and constructive dialogue between academia and politics about the future challenges of Europe.


Dr Schrag Sternbergs researchexploresthe relationship between citizens and political power, and theroles that ideas, ideologies, and narratives can play in shaping it. Drawing on interpretive methodologies inspired by political anthropology and intellectual history, she seeks to bring theoretical and empirical approaches into dialogue.

Dr Schrag Sternberg is Career Development Fellow and Acting Director of Studies in Politics,St Hughs College, and Associate Member, Department of Politics and International Relations, Oxford University.
