Dr Amy King awarded the 2013 Dasturzada Dr Jal Pavry Memorial Prize

Congratulations to Dr Amy King, who has been awarded the 2013 Dasturzada Dr Jal Pavry Memorial Prize for her DPhil thesis entitled Imperialism, Industrialisation and War: The Role of Ideas in Chinas Japan Policy, 1949-1965. The Pavry Prize is awarded annually by the Social Sciences Board to an outstanding thesis at the University of Oxford on a subject in the area of international peace and understanding.


Amy’s research focuses on Sino-Japanese relations, the economic-security nexus, and the legacy of war, imperialism and late industrialization in Asia. She is currently working on a book that examines China’s foreign economic policy towards Japan during the Cold War based on hundreds of recently declassified documents from the Chinese Foreign Ministry Archive.

Dr Amy King is a Lecturer in the Strategic & Defence Studies Centre at the Australian National University.
