Dr Alex Pravda on Russias role in Syrian conflict

Alex Pravda commented in an article on Al Jazeera (31 January) about plans to pressure Syria for a transfer of power from President Bashar al-Assad, and the role of Russia in the crisis.

Noting the consistently critical attitude of Moscow towards sanctions on Syria, Alex concluded that “at the end of the day, it’s a choice between voting against or abstaining” on a UN resolution condemning Syria and threatening sanctions at the UN Security Council.
