In its latest round of funding, the Czech Science Foundation has approved funding for the project ‘Fabricating Anti-Western and Post-Colonial (Dis)order: China, Russia, India and Politics beyond the Liberal International Order’.
The project will run from 2025-2027, with Dr Aleš Karmazin as the Principal Investigator, and Dr Meera Sabaratnam as one of five team members.
This project is centred around investigating the current role of what the team call ‘post-colonial positionality’. It examines shared narratives of historical injustice and contemporary asymmetries as the basis for attempts to redraw international, regional, and local political order in order to recognise the shortcomings of the liberal international order and rebalance global political dynamics. It has a particular focus on the actions of China, India and Russia amongst and with states in the Global South.
The full team is Dr Aleš Karmazin (PI), Dr Jacqueline Dufalla, Dr Ricardo Reboredo, Dr Martina Varkočková and Dr Sabaratnam.
Dr Sabaratnam said:
“I am happy to be part of the team examining this pressing political question. I look forward to a productive collaboration and many interesting findings.”
