Date

The DPIR has been ranked second in the QS World University Ranking by Subject 2014 tables for Politics and International Studies.

The DPIR scored 91.8 out of 100, following top-ranked Harvard University with a score of 93.8. The London School of Economics and Political Science is in third place, scoring 90.5. Scores take into account academic and employer reputation surveys, along with citations per faculty. The methodology is explained in detail here.

In terms of overall ranking, the University of Oxford took joint fifth place with University College London in the 2014 QS Table. The table ranks the top 200 universities in the world and is compiled in close consultation with an international advisory board of leading academics. Four key items are taken into account: research, teaching, employability and internationalisation. The US's Massachusetts Institute of Technology took first place, followed by Cambridge (UK) and Imperial College in joint second place, and Harvard in fourth place.
