The DPIR scored 93.3 out of 100, following top-ranked Harvard University with a score of 97.7. The London School of Economics and Political Science is in third place, scoring 93.2. Scores take into account academic and employer reputation surveys, along with citations per faculty. The methodology is explained in detail here.
In terms of overall ranking, the University of Oxford took fifth place in the 2012 QS Table. The table ranks the top 700 universities in the world and is compiled in close consultation with an international advisory board of leading academics. Four key items are taken into account: research, teaching, employability and internationalisation. The USs Massachusetts Institute of Technology took first place, followed by Cambridge (UK), Harvard, and University College London in second and third and fourth places respectively.
