David Blagden & Andrea Baumann awarded Royal United Services Institute Trench-Gascoigne Essay Prize

Congratulations to David Blagden, doctoral student in International Relations, who was awarded the Royal United Services Institute for Defence and Security Studies’ 2009 Trench Gascoigne Essay Prize for original writing on contemporary national and international defence and security issues.


The prize was presented on 3 December by the Chief of the Defence Staff, Air Chief Marshal Sir Jock Stirrup, at RUSI’s headquarters on Whitehall. David’s essay, ‘Strategic Thinking for the Age of Austerity’, is published in the RUSI Journal, 154/6 (December 2009), pp. 60-66.

Congratulations also to Andrea Baumann, doctoral student in International Relations, who was the 2008 winner. Her essay, ‘Clash of Organisational Cultures?’, is published in the RUSI Journal, 153/6 (December 2008), pp. 70-73.
