Centre for the Resolution of Intractable Conflict joins the department

We are very happy to announce that the Centre for the Resolution of Intractable Conflict (CRIC) has recently become a research centre of the Department of Politics and International Relations.

The approach taken by the Centre is guided by the principles that theoretical advancement must be based on the evidence emerging from direct involvement with communities in conflict, and that resolving conflicts can be assisted by the thoughtful application of lessons learned from studying the experiences of other communities that have suffered similarly.

CRIC was established at Harris Manchester College in 2013 to facilitate research, teaching and training, seminars and conferences, and direct engagement in situations of political violence and long-standing community conflict in various parts of the world.  We are very pleased that from now CRIC staff will be fully engaged with the Department’s academic research programmes, and the Department will be a home for CRIC scientific and philosophical research projects.
