Applications now open for 2024 Spring School
The Department of Politics and International Relations is pleased to announce that applications for our 2024 Oxford Spring School in Advanced Research Methods are now open.
The 2024 Oxford Spring School will run from Monday 8 – Friday 12 April and welcomes committed graduate students and researchers from any social science background who will benefit from our advanced training in quantitative and qualitative methods.
As with last year, our Spring School will be offered in-person and online (via Zoom). We have seven core courses in 2024, two of which are new, and which will run concurrently, offering advanced training in quantitative and qualitative methods. The course options are:
- Data Analysis for the Social Sciences, taught by Spyros Kosmidis (Oxford);
- Machine Learning, taught by Tom Robinson (LSE);
- Causal Inference 1 (Design-Based Approaches), taught by Vicente Dinis Valentim (Oxford);
- New for 2024! Causal Inference 2 (Survey & Field Experiments), taught by Rachel Bernhard (Oxford);
- Qualitative Methods 1 (Interviews & Fieldwork), taught by Marnie Howlett (Oxford);
- New for 2024! Qualitative Methods 2 (Process Tracing), taught by Jody LaPorte (Oxford); and
- Text Analysis, taught by Tom O'Grady (UCL).
Participants who choose to attend one of these courses will also be invited to attend additional research methodology classes along with the full Spring School cohort in the mornings.
Please note, the deadline to apply for an ‘Early Bird’ discount is 12 midnight GMT on Sunday 7 January 2024. Subject to capacity, we will continue to accept applications to Oxford Spring School after these dates (for both DPIR DPhil bursaries and full-price participants) until 12 midnight GMT on Sunday 10 March 2024, or until all places have been reserved.
