Support DPIR

The Department of Politics and International Relations produces cutting-edge research in comparative politics, international relations and political theory. It consistently ranks as one of the top departments in the world and is responsible for the PPE and History & Politics curriculum as well as training one of the largest groups of political scientists in the world.

The work of its academics spans issues such as peace, conflict and security, race, gender and free speech, as well as justice, freedom and democracy. It shapes and informs policies at the local, national and international level, and supports major agencies like the UN, NATO, and WTO.

To continue our work, we need your help. Please, consider donating towards our graduate scholarship or teaching fund, so that we may continue to attract and develop talented new political scientists and provide unparalleled teaching to both our graduate and undergraduate students.

If you would like to support a more specific project or philanthropic partnership with the Department, please get in touch with the Joint Heads of Department, in the first instance, at petra.schleiter@politics.ox.ac.uk and nicholas.owen@politics.ox.ac.uk.

Current funding priorities:

  • Graduate Students

In order to continue to attract the brightest and most capable students, we need to offer an increased number of student scholarships at graduate level.

Lack of funding is the overriding reason why those holding an offer from Oxford turn it down.

All gifts will make an impact, be they single or annual donations, as small amounts will be amalgamated to create the financial packages we seek to offer.

  • Teaching Posts

Attracting and maintaining academics of the highest calibre is an increasing challenge in a competitive environment. Endowing existing and new posts allows a degree of security which facilitates this process.
