The panelists will examine discuss the Updated Commentaries on the Geneva Convention on the Treatment of Prisoners of War that was recently produced by the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC). How do the commentaries interpret the provisions of the Geneva Conventions on the conditions of detention of POWs and the position of POWs who have distinct needs or face distinct risks?

This event is organised by the Oxford Institute for Ethics, Law and Armed Conflict and the International Committee of the Red Cross.

The panel will feature Yvette Issar (ICRC, Geneva), Professor Dapo Akande, Dr Lawrence Hill-Cawthorne (University of Bristol) and Andrea Raab (ICRC, London) and will be chaired by Dr Miles Jackson (Oxford). A drinks reception will follow.
