**Sanjoy Bhattacharya** is a Professor of History of Medicine, Head of the WHO Collaborating Centre for Global Health Histories and Co-Director of the Centre for Global Health Histories at the University of York, UK. His research is focused on the history of international health in South Asia and wider afield, as well as contemporary global, international and national health policy. He has worked on the history and contemporary workings of global disease eradication policies, and is currently working on completing two books: History of India's Engagement with Ideas of Smallpox Eradication between 1947 and 1967, and A Historical Reassessment of the Birth and Expansion of the World Health Organisation in the 20th Century.
