Guillaume Piketty is a Professor of History at Sciences Po in Paris (http://www.sciencespo.fr/departement-histoire/). In 2010-2011 and 2011-2012, he has been a Visiting Research Scholar at Yale University. His research focuses on the social and cultural history of WWII in France and in Europe, and, more broadly, on war, resistance and society during the 20th century. Whilst in Oxford as a Senior Visiting Research Associate to the MEHRC (August 2012 – July 2014), he will work on the day-to-day experience of the Free French during the Second World War. Viewed through the prism of combatant exile, his study is primarily based on the analysis of personal writings and memories written by Free French and of the testimonies that many of them have left. This book is to be published by Harvard University Press. Drawing on his previous researches about the experience of war, he will also work on “War, sensibility and emotions”. Associate Fellow of Worcester College, he is also attached to the Department of Politics and International Relations and to the Maison Française d’Oxford.
